Letter: Excellent work done by Charles Fenton
Charles worked for the BBA Group all his life, as managing director between 1970-1985 and chairman from 1985 to 1989.
At the height of its success it had 26,000 employees worldwide. When he retired he remained chairman of the BBA Retired Employees Association. At his recent funeral service is was said that Charles always remained true to West Yorkshire and its people. This can be seen in his involvement in the area.

Hide AdHe was a magistrate on the Dewbury Bench for 33 years and in 1981 he became the High Sheriff of West Yorkshire for a year.
He was a trustee of the West Riding Cheshire Homes and the AM Fenton Trust. He had a love of sport and for more than 30 years he was president of the Cleckheaton Sports Club, In June of this year the club named their new electronic sports club after him.
At the church service, his son Nigel, spoke of the Dewsbury and District League of Friendship for Disabled Persons, based at the Howland Centre in Dewsbury. Charles, as President, was involved with the charity for over 50 years. Through his own disability Charles could appreciate the needs of other on a similar situation,
He was keen that the members be able to express themselves through arts and crafts and was looking forward to seeing their work at the forthcoming open week.
He will be sadly missed in the local community and we send our best wishes to Nigel, his son, and his wife.
